Have You Had Federal Flood Assistance After A Flood?

Homeowners in Florida may be all too aware of the risk of flooding. While some people make it their business to be well informed and take out appropriate flood insurance, there remain a number who, for one reason or another, choose not to do so. Some of these people may be unfortunate enough to have had their homes affected by flood, after which they may have received Federal Disaster assistance in the form of a grant or loan. It is important for these people to now seek their own FL flood insurance coverage, as they will not be able to receive this Federal assistance a second time.

Relying solely on government-provided disaster assistance can backfire. The assistance is in place to help communities get back to normal as quickly as possible after a flood. Stretching those funds over a greater number of claimants is clearly likely to quickly drain resources which could otherwise help rebuild the wider community infrastructure after a flood.
After a flood many services and vital infrastructure projects require help in getting back to normal. Homeowners who take responsibility for their own home by taking out FL flood insurance will allow more funds to be used for the wider benefit of all Floridians.
